Our Best Bloomers

Brick Street Flower Company provides beautiful blooming and green plants.  A few favorites are the hydrangea, the azalea and the cyclamen.  Here are some helpful tips for our Best Bloomers:

Hydrangea
(Hydrangea macrophylla)

  • A bright location is preferred.  Avoid full sunlight but keep near a sunny window.
  • Keep soil uniformly moist at all times.  Check often and water thoroughly.  Never allow soil to dry out.  Hydrangeas have a large water requirement.
  • Moderate temperatures are ideal:  65 to 70 degrees F.  Avoid excessively hot or cold areas.
  • Fertilize periodically, following manufacturer's directions.

KEY TIP FOR SUCCESS
Maintain soil on the moist side at all times but don't allow plant to stand in water.  A cool environment at night (50 to 60 degrees F) will help to extend the flowering period.

Azalea
(Rhododendron hybrids)

  • Moderately bright light is preferred, near a sunny window but not exposed to direct sun.
  • Uniformly moist soil is preferred.  Water thoroughly when soil surface is just dry to the touch.  Do not allow plant to become excessively dry.  Drain excess water in saucer at base of pot to prevent root rot and protect furniture.
  • Cool temperatures are ideal:  60 to 65 degree F during the day.  Avoid excessively hot or cold areas.

KEY TIP FOR SUCCESS
Placement in a cool environment at night (50 to 60 degrees F) will help to extend the flowering period.

Cyclamen
(Cyclamen persicum)

  • Moderately bright light (diffused sunlight) is preferred.  Near a sunny window is ideal.
  • Moderately moist soil is preferred.  Water thoroughly when soil surface feels dry to the touch.  Drain excess water in saucer at base of pot to prevent root rot and protect furniture.
  • Moderate temperatures are ideal:  65 to 70 degrees F.  Avoid excessively hot or cold areas.
  • Fertilize periodically, following manufacturer's directions.

KEY TIP FOR SUCCESS
Bright light will allow buds to develop and open.  A cool environment at night (50 to 60 degrees F) will help to extend the flowering period.
